Shinichi Sato
A platoon outfielder with unimpressive offensive stats, Shinichi Sato is most valuable in a defensive role. He's fast and has a reliable glove.

With the Swallows ahead, Nomura will often replace left fielder Dwayne Hosey with Sato in late innings.

Though he only hit .225 in 40 at bats during the 1997, Sato has recently started to hit with more power. He clubbed two home runs for the varsity team last year and a grand slam for the minor league squad in August.

The right-handed reserve player also surprised everyone by pulling a ball over the left field fence for a two-run shot in game four of the Japan Series.
