Tatsuki Yamamoto Yamamoto (Japanese characters)
Serving as both a starter and middle reliever in 1997, 27-year-old Tatsuki Yamamoto continues improving.

Though still somewhat erratic, the veteran lefty earned a 3-6 record with one save and a 3.67 ERA in 105 1/3 innings. His control appears to be improving (81 strikeouts against 31 walks and three hit batters).

Since 1993, the versatile southpaw has compiled a 7-6 record with a 4.35 ERA and two saves.

With Masato Yoshii and Terry Bross leaving, the Swallows may depend more on Yamamoto as a starter.
