Where
do you want to go? Unless
you're really familiar with Tokyo, it helps to have a
good subway map and travel guide. With those, you should
be able to get to most of the city's famous attractions
without much trouble.
But
if you plan on staying in Japan for more than a few
weeks, travel guides may not offer you all the help you
need. Where do you go to watch movies? Buy
English-language books or imported food? Purchase a
low-price CD player? Or pick up any of those other items
that make you feel at home? You won't find a lot of these
places in most travel books.
Even
if you're only going to be in Japan a few days, you might
want to find out about . . .
Sightseeing
and nature:
some of city's more popular destinations.
Shopping: cheap places to buy electronics
and other essential household goods.
Entertainment: From Disneyland to drinking and
debauchery, you'll find plenty of fun things to do in
Tokyo.
Dining: You can find ramen and sushi
around any corner in Tokyo, but finding good American
food can be difficult.
Yokohama: A half hour south of Tokyo,
Japan's second largest city is a great place to spend an
afternoon or evening.
