See a Pre-Season Exhibition Game

While most teams hold spring training in warmer parts of the Pacific Ring (and the Swallows train in Yuma, Arizona), by late February they return to Japan.

Starting in the southern end of the archipelago, teams play exhibition games for about a month before the regular season, moving north as weather permits.

Although statistically meaningless, pre-season games offer the most relaxed atmosphere to see a game in Japan--no big crowds (except Giants games) Exhibition game at Jingu Stadiumand little superfluous noise since the oendan (cheering sections) seldom turn out.

With few fans around, this is also one of the best times to try to get an autograph from your favorite players or to get your picture taken with him.

Generally, there's no need to buy tickets in advance since attendance is sparse. Check the Japan Times or the Daily Yomiuri to see when there will be a game near you.
